We're reaching out to you today with heavy hearts but hopeful spirits as we share the story of Dane Smith's battle with cancer.

Dane, a vibrant and adventurous soul, was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, a rare and aggressive form of cancer, in 2021. Since then, our lives have been a whirlwind of hospital visits, treatments, and unimaginable challenges.

In June 2021 at just 29 years old, Dane's zest for life was palpable. He cherished the outdoors, exploring every hiking trail Cape Town had to offer, and maintained a rigorous fitness routine. However, cancer had other plans.

Despite undergoing extensive chemotherapy, numerous tests, and a stem cell transplant, Dane's cancer has returned, posing an even greater threat than before. Dane's journey has been one of resilience and unwavering determination. He has faced every obstacle with courage and grace, refusing to let cancer define him. But the financial burden of his medical expenses weighs heavily on us. Despite our best efforts, the cost of treatment, hospital bills, and ongoing care has become overwhelming.

As Dane's wife and partner, I've witnessed firsthand the toll this illness has taken on him, both physically and emotionally. We got married in February 2021, and our newlywed bliss was cut short by this devastating diagnosis. But through it all, our love has only grown stronger, fueling our determination to fight this battle together.
